How to Add a Video in Umbraco 8

Having a video on your website helps inform consumers of your brand, and it helps break up text on your site. This tutorial will show you how to add a video to your site.

Adding a Video From a URL 

Note: Only Vimeo and YouTube URLs are compatible with Umbraco. Follow the embed option below for other platforms. 

Step 1: Choose the page you want to add a video to. Click the dropdown menu, hover over “Components” and select the three dots on the right. 

Step 2: After clicking the three dots, a component panel will appear with a list of creation options. Select the “Grid” option.

Step 3: Title your component and add the column layout that you want. Select “Add content.”

Step 4: Select “Embed” and paste your video’s URL into the window that opens up.

Step 6: Press the “Save and publish” button in the bottom right to finalize your changes. 

Embedding a Video to a Page

Step 1: Choose the page you want to add a video to. Click the dropdown menu, hover over “Components” and select the three dots on the right. 

Step 2: Select the option to “Embed Code Block.”

Step 3: Name the component and scroll down to “Content.”

Step 4: Grab the embed code for your video from the video platform and paste it into the code block. Then press “Save and publish” at the bottom of the page.
